Apparently, this model (Early 2011 MacBook Pro) is known for having video card issues. Great. But what I'm dealing with here isn't total display failure, lines or artifacts — the problem is, rather, quite anachronistic. My screen is displaying static, like back in the days when you tried to watch HBO without a subscription. This problem is especially apparent when viewing solid colors. It appears both in OS X and Windows (where it's more pronounced). My question to you: is this a sign of impending video card doom? Is is the problem the display itself and not the video card? Or is it perhaps the connection between the display and the mainboard? Thanks.
