I’m worried about the next iPhone although I’m glad I bought my 2019 15” MacBook Pro base model already and didn’t wait for the rumored 16” model.

Pass it on indirectly by maintaining low base storage on their products.

In the long term, prices will increase. We'll also see grey market products in the U.S., coming from HK or China, ironically.

They will do what most companies will do and pass the costs to the consumer.

I will pay extra, it is for a great cause and helps America in the end.

What are "grey market products" and what do you mean by this?

I would hate to pay more for the same thing though...

Products intended for sale in another geographic region.

As an example, XR currently sells for $739 in China through the largest electronic retailer in the country (about twice as big as Best Buy). Sooner or later, someone will buy in bulk from China and import to the U.S. to make money. This will be more lucrative if Apple raises prices in the U.S. to offset tariffs.

Chinese retailers earn nearly 20% from selling iPhone. An iPhone that sells for $739 costs about $630.

If Apple sells XR for $799 in September 2019 (due to tariffs), the margin for a grey market reseller is potentially $799-630=$169.

The same type of people who think they'll make a fortune selling Avon, or Mary Kay, or AmWay, or by driving to Michigan with a car full of plastic bottles and aluminum cans.

Apple will 100% raise the price of 2019 iPhone. The only problem is how much it will raise.
In the long run however, if China decides to close its country, Apple will lose a huge amount of hardware income that is very difficult to migrate to another market.
    We will see.

LOL! Wow I can't believe someone would actually try. The cost of plane tickets alone is expensive. Not to mention my guess it's illegal?

LOL... given the price of their current products I'd say it's a safe bet they'll raise prices. I mean, people already pay 5 times the price for a Macbook when compared to a comparable Windows laptop... and the Windows laptop will actually have up to date hardware!

Why wouldn't they raise prices? It's not as if the Apple fans are gonna jump ship.

    LOL!

It doesn’t matter how much tariff US slaps on. Manufacturing jobs are not going back to United States. And all the extra tax money, average joe like you and me can’t even get penny out of it.

Trade war does not work, it will end up hurting US in the long run. Your purchasing power is going down as we speak.

Yes, like the CBP aren’t checking all these shipment from China.

They will pass off the increase to the consumer. Consumers always pay for these stupid tariffs.

I could see all 3 phones going up £$50 this September, so £799 and £1049 for the 11R and 11S.

New tariffs don’t start till September 1 2019
So the question is how much product can Apple manufacture and ship before Sept 1
Most likely Apple will pass on some of the cost
The reason I say this is how Apple reacted to the Price differential with the Euro and raised prices in europe

Why would US import tariffs make items imported to the UK directly from China more expensive?

They will most likely increase the prices in the UK anyway if they have to put the US prices up. Apple products are now 1:1 £$ and sometimes even cost more in £ despite the exchange rate.

We have been suffering the “deadweight loss” for years now. Time to stop it. Forget about what your Progressive teachers told you!

Still no reason for the US tariffs to result in price increases in other countries, though the UK price may go up due to the current weakness of the Pound.

You wish. Everyday items price has increased, yet have you seen any big manufacture ring job come back?

If China loss the trade war, companies will move their manufacturing line to else where, where labor is significantly cheaper.

Trade war will never end where you wish. By the way, trade deficits between US and China has increased after all these tariffs. Mind blowing to you hah?

Of course they will pass it along until sales decrease to a point where it causes more financial loss. It’s all about profits.

Sorry but we have become too dependent on the chinese. Moving manufacturing to another country will still be preferred to giving the chinese the money. They want to conquer the world.

Prices will go up, the world economy will slow, nothing stays the same.
