Do you think Google will release a smaller version of a phone similiar to Nexus 6?

I finally used a nexus 6 today at a verizon, and im not going lie i fell in love. I had intentions on possibly getting a GS6, but after using it i didnt care for it much. I really enjoyed the smoothness and material design for the nexus 6; however, i just dont like the size of the phone. I would get the previous phone but it doesnt work with verizon, which is very unforunate.

Rumors point to two Nexus devices this year. One flagship phone probably made by LG and slightly larger than the Nexus 5 and another cheaper Nexus, which will likely be made by Huawei.

Phone-wise, I only expect to see Project Ara updates. Nothing Nexus phone will be unveiled.
Google I/O 2015 will be all about Android 'M', as in Android 5.2 Mocha (my guess for the name).

I am so waiting to update my nexus 4, nothing in the market still bring me to switch.
i would have so much the Nexus 6 to be reasonable in terms of size.

I would suggest the Moto X 2014. I have the Verizon Moto X 2014, and its very similar to the Nexus 6. The 5.2 inch display and thin bezels makes the phone similar to the iPhone 6 in height (though the Moto X is slight wider). Since it has Andriod 5.0, it makes a good Nexus alternative.
The downsides are the slightly lower specs, 801 vs 805, 2GB vs 3GB of ram, but those don't make a difference. The real caveats with the Moto X are the camera, as it only takes good pictures in moderate to good lighting, and the battery (standby time is pretty bad, but I get through a full day with moderate usage).

Overall, it's a pretty good Nexus 6 alternative. And it has Moto Maker and starts at only $500 (but I would wait until they have a $140 off promotion, which happens every couple months or so.)

While I don't know about anything flying around in the rumour mill, in my own opinion, I don't think Google will be releasing many Nexus devices in the future, or at least budget Nexus devices in the sense of the Nexus 5.

Reason being, with the smartphone market quickly maturing and becoming saturated, as well as Chinese companies like OnePlus and Xiaomi offering amazing budget devices, I just don't see a business case for Google spending so much in R&D costs to produce a phone that will face such heavy competition.

In the past, the Nexus 5 was in a market of it's own in the budget category, but now OnePlus, Xiaomi and Huawei dominate that market.

Google's devices need to occupy a market that isn't so heavily contested, so they will probably stick to 5.5 inch + devices.

None of those brands are global competitors.

    I disagree.....

...about the next version name. :p Mocha doesn't lend itself to a cool logo or statue on Google's front lawn. My guess is Marshmallow. :D

Rumors are that LG may be brought back on board for the Nexus M phone due this Fall.

I would expect Google to drop the size down, but still be a larger phone, I am going to guess they might go with 5.5", but will not still with the 6", but also won't go back to 5".

hmm I wouldn't hold your hopes up, it would be great if they did though, even better if they let Sony make it like the Xperia Z3/ 4 Compact.

    I would consider a 4" / 4.5" Nexus phone.

I was looking to downsize this year, my Nexus 5 is alright but a tad too big, and considering the iPhone 6 i a tiny bit longer and a tiny bit narrower it's pointless looking at that too, especially with having a smaller screen for all that bulk! The Nexus 6 looks great apart from being bigger than the iPhone 6 Plus!

So this year I am really hoping to have a choice of a really nice Sony Xperia Z4 Compact, a smaller Nexus phone and the iPhone 6C with internals upgraded from the 5S.

I just want a Nexus 5 in a 4.5" form factor. I hate all these gigantic phones.

I hope Google releases a smaller phone (5" to 5.2"), along with a N6 sized product.
It would be nice if the price of the smaller phone was more in line with the "old" Nexus prices.
Basically something similar to the N5 but with a better battery.
