Maybe, but we would probably have to wait a looong time.
The problem with cellular is tower load. In theory, LTE should be fast enough, and latency is low enough that it can replace landline wired internet. However, carriers tend to overload their towers (a lot), so in the end, in some areas today’s LTE speed feels more like a good 3G speed (and 3G bandwidth is even more oversaturated).
Let’s just say I won’t ditch my fiber home broadband anytime soon.

Really depends on where you are and what service is available. Inside my house here in Seattle, I can consistently get around 70Mbps on my Sprint LTE but I'm well situated wrt local towers. Go somewhere else - just a few miles away, particularly in hill shadows - and it will drop way off. Still not as fast as my Comcast cable - 120Mbps.
LTE was (past tense) great in where I am at first, reaching 20Mbps easily. Now, ~5-10Mbps in a great day, and more often it hovers around 1-2Mbps. Still better than the oversaturated 3G though. Meanwhile, my apartment just got fiber and I'm enjoying 200Mbps broadband.
To follow up - that Sprint speed is on my Galaxy S7 Edge phone. On my Air 2 I have T-Mobile and get 40Mbps in the same location.
