Somewhere in this forum I saw that people buying MBA (or other MacBooks) at Bestbuy as a student said they also got Bestbuy gift cards matching the $100 gift card that Apple is giving to student purchases. Can someone confirm this?

If this is true, what does one need to say to the Bestbuy sales rep when one is buying the MBA as a student in order to get the gift card?

    Thanks!

Tell them you're a student. Ask for a price match.

If you're a student you can get $100 off the price via a coupon. Since Macs are on sale basically you get $150 off ($100 off coupon + $50 already discounted this week). My brother just did this today. You need a .edu email and they will email you the coupon.

Go there, click the MB, put in email, wait about 5 min. bam. They did this in-store for a girl there that was interested too. Really nice.

So yeah my brother walked out his BB with a base 13" MBA for $1050+tax and got reward zone out of it.

Here's a pic of the coupon.

Agreed -- you get the current sale price (if you buy right now), which is $50 to $75 off. Then if you have an .edu address and can get the coupon pictured above, you can get another $100 off the price. That is it. No additional gift card.

Just did this today. Returned the 11 inch 64GB I got for 860 and picked up a 256GB 13 inch for 1324! Glad I saw this post. Sadly they wouldn't do it with the open box one they had :(

I didn't get a gift card just the $100.00 off the on sale price.
