My new 3G Touch has PUSH, but it doesn't seem to be working. How can it work when the minimum fetch time is 5 minutes? Sorry about the dumb question.

YOu can't set it to fetch, you change it to push!

And i think it only works with certain mail providers. I seriously don't pay attention since i use mobile.me (Ha, mac.com thank you very much - the first time i sent a friend an email from the touch he said, WHO is this? because it said me :p)

To correct myself, the minimum fetch time is 15 minutes not 5 minutes. And, I see fetch is for when Push is off.

Nevertheless, I tested Push again with email, but it doesn't seem to work.

who's the e-mail provider? as previous posters have mentioned, it doesn't work with all e-mail providers.

I tested with Hotmail and Gmail - neither worked. They don't supposed to work?

Neither of those two formats support Push on the iPhone (Gmail push is supported on Android only and Hotmail is not push at all on any device). I think the only ones that would support push are Mobile Me, Exchange, and certain Yahoo accounts (at least that I am aware of)

Thanks guys. Okay, now I know that neither hotmail nor gmail supports Push.

New Question:

My new 3G Touch has minimum fetch time of 15 minutes. I guess that's why emails arrive so late now?

I remember my previous 2G Touch with 2.x OS fetching emails instantly; what was the minimum fetch time? 1 minute? If so, why was it increased to 15 minutes? (I hope I am remembering this correctly.)

Anyway, what happened to the 'instant fetch' that I had with my 2G iPod Touch with 2.x OS???

Why 15 minutes now?
