Does Series 2 allow you to receive/send messages without the phone nearby?

    I saw they mentioned you could workout/run/walk and it would track it and your phone doesnt need to be with you.

    But can you leave your phone at home and still get messages/email/make a call etc...?

    Pretty sure as of watchOS 2, if you're within range of known Wi-Fi, the watch connects to it directly?

    Yes. You can send iMessages without the phone being around, not sms

    You can some what do it with the current watch. If there are any know wifi hotspots on the route wifi calling, and iMessage should work. I don't know about other carries, but with numbersync on AT&T I can also get regular text messages also.
