I'm sure this thread has been done, but I couldn't find it, so here we go:

I'm heading off the college in the fall so funds are semi limited(but no where near enough to keep me away from an iPhone). My US Cellular subscription is about to end, thank god, so I'm going AT&T Cingular either way.

So all of my decisions are pretty much made up, except one. Which iPhone should I get, 4 or 8gb. The benefits of the 8gb are obvious, but is it really worth the extra hundred? I have just over 9gb of files on iTunes (I know im a light weight), and if I really need them all I could just carry my 30gb iPod video with me, but then again one of the main reasons I'm getting an iPhone is to not have to carry everything around with me.

Ugh, someone help me out in this situation...

Hmn...good questions. I'm in a similar case. I have iTunes with over 60Gbs of Media...and I'm getting the iPhone 8Gb. The reason being is, I want all my music+music videos, which clocks in at about 7Gbs....thats not much room for other videos. However, drop the music videos, and I can fit a movies or some Tv shows on it.

Rules I'd follow
-Get all music on the phone
-Know the photo will take up some room, plus you'll be need room for taking pictures.
-Formating, the OS+Apps will eat on some space aswell.

4 gig makes no sense. get the 8 gig. its 20% more money for 100% more storage. seems like a no brainer to me.

apple should freak out the world when launch day comes. announce in the morning that the iphone sizes will be 8 gig and 16 gig. with no price increase. the genius marketing plan would be complete.

considering 500 mb is devoted to the os, 4 gb doesn't sound like a lot. get the 8 gb or wait for a higher capacity model to come out.

Good Grief, man. It's COLLEGE. Spend the money on women and beer !!

*shaking head*

The screwed up priorities of youth...

Hahaha oh don't worry that is taken in to account in the budget. I'm going to a D1 school, party's are priority #1, woops, I mean studying...

And I'm liking the idea of 8gb, but there has to be some argument for the 4gb, anyone?
