Looking at my Iphone 4S it looks much better the longer pin dock much smarter. The smaller one looks cheap looking from the leaked pictures. If they had to make it smaller like some Android phones it should have been on the side or hidden by a small tray like the sim card or other phones.

It is not a matter of how it looks, but its functionality. I hope that all the current accessories will work with the new smaller connector.

Why, in your opinion, do you think the current 30-pin dock looks better? Because it's longer? The new, smaller dock will make way for a larger speaker, the ability to move the headphone port to the bottom of the phone (which makes the most sense considering most people put their phones in their pockets facing downward with their headphones in), and also it doesn't take up as much space on the inside of the phone, thus leaving more space for the battery, etc.

If it's small why not hide it away or place it on the side?
Because it would be very annoying to have to open a lid when you want to use the connector to charge the battery every day.
And the cable on the side is not comfortable to use the phone while charging it.

Have you ever use an iPhone?

Making it smaller "may" help to keep it clean of fabric debris from our pockets.

On the side or hidden behind a flap are the two WORST options.
It's best at the bottom, especially when you're on a call and connected to a charger. Texting and talking on the phone would be very annoying if it were on the side. Have you ever used a Blackberry? :p

I like the smaller dock connector, I just wish it had been that size from the very beginning :)

And an even smaller micro sim?

It's not a good thing if Apple keep updating this sort of thing. I think switching from the 3GS to the 4 was very frustrating.

How about a wireless charger that would be better?

1. We don't know if the leaked photos are valid.

2. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
You'd make a great car salesman.

OP: It's just a hole. You'll get use to it. How do you feel about the rest of the leaked images?

Uh, no. You do know what the "dock" in "dock connector" means, right?

^ This. However, if the look of the dock connector is a deal breaker then buy whatever product suits your needs/wants.

Pot, kettle.

I absolutely hate the flap. I understand that the argument going for it is "block out the dust", but it is absolutely annoying and it gets loose over time.
Yea, or they break. I could not stand when my devices had those things, having to move them out of the way in order to plug in the charger. I hope we never see anything like that on the iPhone.

Right on the money there... How would so many of our accessories work if the dock connector was on the side with a cover of some sort.

I can already imagine trying to keep the flap from getting in the way as I try to awkwardly plug my iPhone into a sound dock. No thank you.

Cheap? They were just able to make a smaller USB 3.0 port making way for a bigger microphone, speaker, and earphone jack. Not sure how upgrading all those qualities to make way for other things in the top of the phone is "cheap"

the number of pins only changes the ports length not the width, so i really dont understand the need for it, or the nano sim. Its not going to allow the device to get any thinner?

Maybe to fit the bigger, mic, speaker and headphone jack so they can make room for other things in the phone? Just like they moved the camera above the other speaker..Move b*tch get out the way
