Hi,

I want to downgrade my iPod Touch 2. generation to its original firmware 2.2.1.
I downloaded the 2.2.1 from felixbruns.de and then tried to restore my iPod using that firmware.

The problem is that iTunes gave me an error and said that it was an unknown firmware (error 20).

Any other ideas on how to downgrade from 4.2.1 to 2.2.1?

Ok, but I don´t want to mess up my Mac with installing an other version of iTunes.

Any other ideas? I heard something of TinyUmbrella. Would that be helpful?

TinyUmbrella won't help. Are you using an MB model iPod Touch and not an MC model? I think the older version of iTunes is a requirement.

Why would you want to downgrade back to 2.2.1 in the first place? Nine times out of ten an application will require 3.1 at the minimum.

Could you set up another user on your mac and install the older version of iTunes on that so you don't mess up your main iTunes.
