i recently had my iphone nicked (don't worry, new one on the way through insurance [not anymore :(]) but i hadn't synced for a while. ive been told all my settings and apps will go back to normal from the last time i synced, but since then i bought a couple of apps that i want to get back.

is there a way for itunes to automatically download the apps? or can i simply press 'buy app' in the itunes store and not get charged for it again?

i was going to try to press 'buy app', but didn't want to get charged again so thought i'd check with you guys!

    thanks alot for reading

it is to my understanding, that the itunes store will remember the fact that you purchased an app even if you have not backed it up on your computer. this means that when you click "purchase" in the app store, it will prompt you to download it again, as well as stating the fact that you have already been charged for the application and will not be charged once more.

if you have bought them via appstore you should be able to redownload via itunes or ur new iphone for free, (i know i can install apps from another account on my iphone just by loggin in to that account via itunes for free)

As long as you download the app using the same iTunes account that you originally purchased the App with, you will not be charged again.

It takes a little nerve to do this the first time because it looks like you have agreed to pay. Go ahead and agree, and then you get told that you already have purchased the application and asked if you want to download it again for free.

When you hit the price tag to purchase it, it will ask for your password. Then it will say you already downloaded this app, would you like to download it again for free. Thats it.

When you buy the app from iTunes App Store, ALL the records of the app remains on the iTunes account, and unlike songs, since you have bought the license to use the apps, you can download the apps again for free.

Also, if you have docked the iPhone, it automatically backs up ALL data from iPhone to your computer (mac or pc, but i presume you have a mac) so if you connect to iTunes for the new iPhone replacement, you have the option to restore from a backup.

    thanks for the replies

i wanted to just press 'buy app' but didn't want to get charged again if there was another way, now i'll take the plunge.

i was gonna ask if there is a way to automatically do it as i cant remember which i downloaded and don't wanna miss out, but someone mentioned about the bills and remembered i can just check my emails.

    thanks alot for the help

ps got a motorola e1 rokr as replacement at the moment, if you like the 'original' iphone ;)
