A woman in Omaha NE has filed a suit (pdf) against homosexuals (all of them), asking the court to determine once and for all whether homosexuality is a sin. She calls herself an ambassador on behalf of god and his son jesus christ. So, if the court were to find it not to be a sin, I wonder where that would leave her.

Are we still supposed to respect these people's beliefs as a society?

In my opinion beliefs that harm others should never be respected. She needs to keep her hateful nonsense to herself.

I should be allowed to sue her for mental anguish since I can't sleep at night and have anxiety over her lawsuit.

I suppose according to the bible masturbation and premarital sex is as well. I have been sinning in one form or another for years.

Well technically you can sue for anything. I imagine her lawsuit will or at least should go nowhere. Even if they determine it is a sin, it's not going to change a thing.

Jeez. This whole gay marriage thing is really driving some religious folks to insanity.

Frivolous lawsuits should be a crime.

Good thing she's not Muslim because then there would be violence against actual homosexuals rather than just loony rants.

A judge will dispose of this, chastise her, and will probably bar her further access to the federal court system.

Agreed. Hopefully the judge rips her a new one before he tosses this suit.

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't most heterosexual acts 'sins'?

It would leave her in the same position that State Sen. Ernie Chambers was in: filing a lawsuit against God.

There are comments all over Facebook, News sites and -blogs, where fundamentalist "Christians" in all seriousness state that they are convinced that their "god" is punishing the US for the legalization of gay marriage including statements like "9/11 was 'god's' first wave of fire and brimstone and that was just the beginning!11!!66!6!". It's hilarious and sad at the same time...

(Also I'd like to note that I find it pretty sad that their "god" obviously does not give a crap about Canada (or European Countries where gay marriage has been legalized), unless you'd want to consider Justin Bieber as a plague of "biblical" proportions...)

It definitely seems to be dividing the US quite a bit right now, although it's easy to get the wrong impression depending on the selection of websites you go to...

Judges are qualified to judge the law; not the bible.

Some people should live in padded rooms, or on Gilligan's Isle. I prefer the isle; that way, we don't even have to ignore 'em.

Not at all and I'm glad about it, this country is relatively secular and after living here for 10 years and 26 years in Germany, I prefer this country and the main spread mentality by far. Godless and happy :) .

Really? If you think being Muslim would only cause this, then I suggest you have a few words with Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson, as I can assure you that they aren't Muslim, and did much worse than just 'loony rants'.

Germany is technicaly not secular. There are even laws against blasphemy.

The problem in the US is not religion, but deeply seated psychological issues when it comes to coitus.
Example: The US has by far the largest, unregulated porn industry in the world and on the other hand weird and draconian laws that regulate peoples private sexual interactions.

Easily circumvented. Videotape the session and the Gub'ment can't touch you.

I remember when my kids were born, people kept asking, "Did you videotape the birth?"
I look them straight in the eye and said, "Nope. But I did record the conception.":p *rim shot*
