I was getting my charger when the end of the charger (the end where you plug it into the macbook) took a dip into a bowl of soup. I took it into the bathroom, dampened a q-tip and cleaned off the part with the soup on it, I then dried it off with a towel. Then not to long after that I put it in a bowl of rice, it has been sitting in there for about 10 minutes. I am wondering if it is safe to use it.

I dropped mine into a bowl of cereal with milk. Allowed it to dry out and works fine.

Definitely best to let it sit fir a few days. A week is even better.

Well I dont! Lol. You think I can use it in about a hour or two maybe  It didn't get to wet, I just heard that that charger might fry the battery.

Charger might fry the battery, but I can use it anyway right?

Just wait at least 24 hours.

Should be fine I was just being cautious. If dried out you should be ready to go.

As I recall, the chargers are fairly 'sealed' as it were, and I doubt that any/much would get inside.. That being said, IF it does get wet internally, the only way to dry it out would be a Desiccant (like rice), Time and Heat.. :(

If you did get liquid inside of it, and you try to use it too soon, there is a chance you might hurt it, or maybe the computer, but I doubt that last part.. I do not know if there are any LSI (Liquid Sensors) in the chargers, but I doubt it.. I cannot see the use really, given there value.. :apple:

If it was mine, I think I would 'bag it in rice' for a day just to be safe.. and either beg or borrow another charger IF you really need to.. or, if you have lots of Time and Money then just plug it in and see what happens.. Either way, please let us know, it is always fun and educational here..

Good Luck!! ;)

Just when you think you've seen it all on MR, this post comes along...

I can now add a bowl of soup and a bowl of breakfast cereal to my list of items that have touched parts of a MBP.

hi...i have the same problem here. I had fell the end of the charger( which connects to mac ) into the cup of tea while the plug was turned on. So, i took it back and dried with towers and tried it but it's not working. Then, I put that end to the cup of alcohol and dried and tried. It's still not working. What should i do?

Why in the world would you put it in alcohol?
