    Once again. Read my lips.

The networks still have the option to transition to digital anytime they want. They do not have to wait until June. As a matter of fact 2 of the local stations here in Portland already said they were switching Feb. 17th.

So the date the FCC gives is the last day they can broadcast using the old standard, but is there a rule about how early they can switch to DTV?

Are there stations that have already stopped their analog signal?

Stations KPDX and KOIN in Portland will be switching on Feb. 17th. At that time the analog signal will no longer work. Only the digital equivalent.

I'm guessing most big cities will switch Feb. 17th due to access to comcast and OTA signals etc.

So once again I ask what is the point of the delay if everyone will switch on the 17th.

Please, please change to digital on the 17th.

Also, how do I get the voting record for this? I'm one unhappy constituent.

This will not affect cable broadcasts. The signals will not improve.

If you want to see digital over the air you can do that now. You don't have to wait.

Sure it does, it clears the signal and gives you 4 sub channels per station.

I you are already covered it shouldn't matter when they pull the plug.

What is this all about anyway? I mean why is it an issue? Has there ever been anything in history where the government got involved and forced the next stage of evolution on a luxury item? I mean you can still buy a neck tie or a clip-on. You can tie a string from a light switch or use a touch screen control panel for your light switches. Why couldn't market forces decide when analog television signals were no longer viable?

I guess that's what I mean. What I didn't understand was that other poster's indignation over the delay.

The airwaves are controlled by the government. They set the rules on who gets what. Anything that uses the radio spectrum has to go through the FCC.

Does anyone here think the postponement is going to hurt/affect them? Who cares if they move back a few months? Not sure I understand the problems some individuals have with this. TV stations or people waiting to buy the new available spectrum, OK, but individuals..., there's not much to gripe about (other than commercials:D)

It needs to be attached to a digital/UHF antenna :)

I use the same thing. Elgato's version connected to a digital antenna and I get 22 digital stations.

Well looks like the feel good admistation is kicking off.

This is complete BS. those 6.5 mil so called people who failed ot make the switch. Sorry but there own fault. They waited until the last min and got screwed. I think in 4 months the difference is going to be 4-5 mil people will not be ready. We are down to the last min and not much is going to change.

This is nothing more than a feel good law.

Worthless and does a lot more harm than good. It going to cost a lot of jobs instead of saving jobs.

Digital antennas are a gimmick, you can use the same stuff you have been using for years.

The one I have isn't. It's built inside it's own housing and has a LED control that allows me to change the direction of the antenna with the push of a button while it sits still. And it also has a manual gain control.

yeah but now it is offical. We have a president who just cost a lot of jobs for people that could easily of been saved.

Our president choose to help out idiots who apparently wait until the last minute to get something. What do you expect.

They had 3 years to get ready. Not my fault they choose to sit on their ass and not make the transition.

And it is not like TV is critical every day life. I went 3 years with out TV and was just fine.
