Looking at possibly picking up a Dual VESA Mount Monitor Stand but looking for ideas.

A few caveats:

1. It must be free standing, the edge of my desk is not enough to support a clamp system
2. I'm not about to drill a hole in my desk either.

Any suggestions out there?

I have a similar situation. Not possible to use clamp nor drill, but still wanted vesa mount for flexibility and to improve deskspace under monitor. My solution - i built a monitor shelf with vesa mount drilled into the monitor shelf. See attached picture (still waiting for the ASD to attach) ?

Interesting Idea. Wondering how the stand will balance under the weight of the monitors. Will it be balanced enough to hold? I have 2 monitor shelves right now but not nearly that wide and their aluminum. This is an idea I might have to consider though.

Where did you find the legs for your shelf?

Yeah I also wonder that. Have tried to mitigate that for stable setup by:
- Vesa arm is lockable and will be configured to ideal height and position and then locked into place. Arm is actually meant for Point-of-Sale systems. Was the cheapest and simplest vesa arm I could find (approx 99 USD).
- Heavy and solid shelf (solid oak) about 1 inch thick. Heavy!
- Placement of arm will ensure monitor is ~in middle of shelf and center of gravity ~1-2 cm back from the center of legs.

Approx monitor placement in illustration:

The legs I found at Bauhaus:
https://www.bauhaus.se/mobelben-habo-511-3x10cm (~3 USD / leg)

IKEA also have many popular legs that can be suitable, for example:

Even though you said standard clamps won’t work with your desk, if you look at the clamping options of Ergotron and Humanscale, they have other options that can handle different desk edges.

I'll have to look. The problem I have is there is not more than 1.5" of lip. I'm not sure that will be enough to support the weight of 2 monitors. I will take a look at their products though and see if there is a solution. I would really like the ability to clear up some desk real estate.
