I'm using the Apple Mail client with the Outlook server using an IMAP format. Both Mail and Outlook are putting my sent messages in the Sent folder, when one is enough. How can I eliminate one of these?

I had exactly the same issue last year and spent ages trying to find a solution without any luck. It was very frustrating! Ended up giving up on the Mail app. I'll keep an eye on this thread though in case anyone does know how to resolve this. There must be a way, surely..?

Glad someone posted this issue. Hope Apple takes note.

I have also experienced this including and issue with after an email is sent (and after verified that in fact it was delivered) the email stays in the "outgoing" folder as if it still needs to be sent.

Maybe duplications and related issues has to do with maybe non-apple email accounts? I have an old msn account that I unfortunately still have to use and have these issues. Maybe also with goggle mail (i don't use)?

Maybe it is related to imap or pop accounts having to be bounced across server ecosystems (in my case Apple and Microsoft's systems)?

The default mail in OS X and macOS is buggy by nature and usually makes people use eventually third party offerings. I like the simplicity of the Mail app and would prefer just to use it. Hope Apple continues to improve it with the next OS version. It seems not to be a big priority or focus, but needs attention.

If Tim Cook uses the mail app (and not Outlook - he might coming years ago from Compaq...then don't you think it would climb the attention ladder in support... ? :)
