My wife and I have a pretty large DVD collection. It would be great for us to back them up to our mac, especially with the news of iTV.

What is the best program to use rip the dvd's into a high quality format?
I tried out Handbrake last night, easy to use but will the files it produces look the same on our tv (LCD HD) as the DVDs? Is there a better program to use?

Thanks, i've looked around on the forums but havent found anything that addresses the quality question.

IMO, Handbrake is the best program. I use the h264 codec at 1000 kbps average bitrate. The files it puts out are about 1GB for 2 hours and look great. But you'll need a fast computer if you don't want it to take forever. My dual 2.0 g5 (1.5 gig ram) takes about 3 hours per disk.
