Hey guys.. for whatever reason I'm having the hardest time figuring out how to take a DVD.. convert it into a format that's compatible with iTunes and playable on my iPad.

I've google'd it and tried the first few search results but haven't really found a program that works without having to purchase it.. any recommendations?

handbrake is free that is true, but you will need to mess around with the settings for a while, my best advice would be to download the cineXplayer, and you´ll be able to play any .avi, one of the easiest formats to convert to, and great quality.

Here's what I do to convert a DVD to iPad-format with Handbrake :

    1. Launch Handbrake
    2. Select DVD from SOURCE menu
    3. Select AppleTV setting
    4. Uncheck LARGE FILE SIZE checkbox
    5. Rip.

All of my 41 movies were ripped that way with no problem.

I use dvd fab, just rips it to .avi.... I said i preferred it to handbrake mostly because i can very easily change the quality setting (any setting works on the cineXplayer).

Might just be me, but there are only a few movies which i want in 720, other i just, rip´em so they´ll take about 800/900mg...
