ive been doing some research and seeing people having issues with the nvidia mcp79 and sata III ssd not giving the sata II 3.0 link speed. Anybody know a fix for this. I did a pram reset aswell as smc reset with no dice.

I'm running a Late 2009, and I have the Crucial M500. I know it's one of the older SSD model, but back then according to my research that was the only SSD (as far as I can recall) that would allow the 2009 Mini to work with STAT II. Sorry I have no solution for you, I merely went with the suggested SSD.

Using Crucial M4 128 GB ....getting 3gbps link speed.

I tried trancend 320 512 GB but it boots up as 3gbs or 1.5 gbs, depends on the chipset mood :)

All the "Samsung EVO!" threads on the web distorts what really is the best SSD for our model year of Mac Mini. I'm wanting to get an SSD for my 2012 i5 Mini but not entirely sure which is the best from all the "EVO!" cheering.

Are you willing to sell your 850 at the loss to get the full 3gbps of a M4 or M500?

I don't think this thread is so about about finding the best EVO. The issues is that the 2009 Mini has a very picky interface for SATA. One that will not allow the SATA II to run at the full 3Gbs when not using the correct SSD. Only a selected few can work with the 2009 Mini at the actual SATA II speed.
