I can't believe it, but I just sold my 1.25 Ghz G4 mac mini for $470 on ebay, netting me $442 after fees and shipping.

I paid less than that new a couple years ago!

haha, well as long as you were honest about the specs and they didn't do enough research to compare it to the new machines!

A buddy of mine bought a dual g5 on an educational discount and sold it for $200 profit a few months later.

Who would pay close to retail on a 2 year old computer?

Yeah, Craiglist buyers are just as dumb. I've seen old PPC minis that sold for more than new current minis!

It's useless to ask "why". There's a million reasons. Ever wonder why you get those nigerian scam emails? That's right, because they work. There's always plenty of idiots who get taken in. I certainly don't support the scammers and hope they all end up in jail, but it's hard to feel sorry for the "victims". Sometimes folks are just too stupid to hold onto their own money. In the case of ebay and CL, well, people are stupid, and there is no cure<shrug>.

Are you selling a cure? Because I'd pay at least $200 for one.

Yeah, I sold my 12" 1 GHz PowerBook for around $700 USD. It was 2 years and 8 months old.

There's a sucka* born every minute.
