Debris has been found in the search for the EgyptAir plane that crashed into the Mediterranean Sea with 66 people on board after the jet went into a sudden spin and plunged 22,000ft before vanishing off the radar.

Flight MS804 disappeared near the Greek island of Karpathos, ten miles into Egyptian airspace at around 00.30am GMT, without making a distress call.

A Greek frigate discovered two large plastic floating objects in the sea around 230 miles south of the island of Crete, Greek defence sources said.

The two objects appeared to be pieces of plastic in white and red and spotted close to an area where a transponder signal had been emitted.

Earlier, Greek defence minister Panos Kammenos said the Airbus A320 made 'sudden swerves' in mid-air, lurching 90 degrees to the left then 360 degrees to the right as it fell out of the sky.

He said the plane dropped from 37,000 feet to 15,000ft before the signal was lost at around 10,000 feet.

The revelation came after a former air accident chief said all the evidence was pointed to the plane being targeted in a terrorist attack.

Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathi also said the possibility of a terror attack was a 'stronger' possibility than technical failure.

The head of Russia's top domestic security agency, Alexander Bortnikov, also claimed it was 'in all likelihood it was a terror attack'.

The 56 passengers on board included one Briton, 30 Egyptians, 15 French, one Belgian, one Iraqi, one Kuwaiti, one Saudi Arabian, one Chadian, one Portuguese, one Algerian and one Canadian. There were 10 crew members including three security guards.

Trump has already tweeted it was terrorism. I marvel at his lack of presidential behavior.

There is no better example of his total lack of judgement, even if it turned out to be true he has absolutely nothing to base it on at this time other than ignorance and fear.

Undoubtedly jumping on it to try and further his own gains, before the flames at the crash site have even stopped burning I imagine.

The head of Russia's top domestic security agency says the crashed Egyptian jet has apparently been brought down by a terror attack. Alexander Bortnikov said on Thursday that "in all likelihood it was a terror attack" causing the crash of the EgyptAir Flight 804 from Paris to Cairo with 66 people on board, according to Russian news agencies.

Bortnikov, the head of the Federal Security Service, called for a joint action to track down those responsible for that "monstrous attack."

Last October, a Russian plane flying from Egypt crashed into the Sinai Peninsula, killing all 224 people on board. Moscow said it was brought down by an explosive device

Well Obama has been criticized for not jumping to conclusions fast enough, so at least the Republicans are being consistent with their desire to jump to conclusions.

That said from reading the news reports I'd be surprised if it doesn't turn out to be terrorism, either a bomb or the pilots losing control after trying erratic maneuvers to stop a hijacker. But it is irresponsible for someone with no knowledge and in a place of authority to make those kinds of statements.

Both of which are saying "most likely", which in no way means it definitely was.

No-one will know until they find the wreckage & the black box and investigate it.......

Regardless of how one feels about Obama, he would've never made such a presumptuous claim without evidence and even then would've formulated a thoughtful response. It could very well be a terrorist attack but Trump had zero evidence to base that claim on at the time, it speaks to both his judgement and temperament.

Oh let's not mention the Commander and Chief here please. After all, he might mimic hands up and don't shoot gestures of the miscreants he supported who had it all wrong. He might then post qualify his comment of you can keep your doctors and so on. Lucky that ISIS is only the Junior Varsity Team.

As for Trump - well like others he makes broad sweeping statements before having the facts but then again, so do many of the media outlets throughout the world. I just wonder if Hillary had to cover her head and run from debris in the air from that event - oh my bad, that was a lie about her landing at some airport in an unrelated country. (g)

Why? A tragic plane crash due to weather events or human error shouldn't be political, should it?

    Oh wait.

    From CNN:
-- The cause of the disappearance is more likely terrorism than a technical issue, Egypt's civil aviation minister said.

Only when the Republican presidential nominee tweets about it like he's a teenager pent up in his mother's basement.

No, actually it becomes political when the Egypt's civil aviation minister claims that the event was likely due to an act of terrorism.

Except when it involves a cop, then he has no issue jumping to conclusions or opening his mouth without knowing all the facts.
