I have seen these textbooks before but this is one is a special kind of crazy. now this is for the hard core home schoolers Now if you think you can't feel electricity you have never peed on a electric fence.

Well there we go, that explains Trump's popularity in a nutshell.

If there are really people so stupid they believe this AND that they're willing to teach their children this, then you're doomed. And quite honestly IF this level of thinking becomes the norm, then the sooner you destroy yourselves the better the rest of us will be.

(Although I do indeed hope that this remains a minority idea, and ever decreasing. However reading some of the posters on here makes me think they studied this book and others like it)

Any true patriot knows it was invented by Benjamin Franklin.

Yep, electricity never existed until old Ben invented it. Just like light didn't exist until Edison stole the lightbulb.

Sir, hate to correct you but God created light. That said, you are correct that many argue Edison, the true modern Prometheus, did steal the light bulb. And the movie projector.

    Talk about long-winded... Dayum.

Electricity involves electrons, which are part of atoms--

As if it matters, every last one of us could know and engineer everything down to the subatomic level on our own and still know--

    Well that's because God cried.

Or did he pee, what did Peter Griffin tell his son Stewie it was?

I always pictured some really big hamsters running around a wheel connected to a generator.

As soon as anyone solves the mystery of where electricity comes from, perhaps then we can move on to something important, like where money comes from, and where it goes.

Well, all I can say is I'm happy that I was not raised within the Christain education system.

I spent most of my pre-college years in Jewish day school. Somehow despite being a "modern orthodox" school they had no problem teaching us real science using standard text books- dinosaurs were real, EVOLUTION, yes even electricity! They did a very good job separating normal studies from religious studies and not convoluting the two.

It seems to me the guy writing the text book probably doesn't even know what electricity is. It sounds like God and Electricity are very similar- so we all believe in electricity, therefore we should all believe in God?

At some level we have never actually seen heard felt or smelled anything. Senses are our brains interpretation. Afterall, color does not really exist, just our brains perception.

The first half is. The second half not so much (I'm no expert but I know there were competing inventions).

Good news!! I hoped the god comment was, but it's pretty much established that Edison stole the lightbulb from Joseph Swan (and others).

How old is that textbook? That hair dryer looks like vintage 1970s.

I grew up raising cows and pigs which were kept in with the help of electric fencing.

I've definitely felt electricity a few times in my life.

    What an idiotic book.

That's a strange way to write what appears to be maxwell's equations.

Her clothes have an 80's vibe!

Ultimately it falls under "freedom of 'religion'" - who are we to tell parents to not hammer some pathetic, uneducated and/or vile mythology into the brains of their offspring [personally that contradicts that "freedom..." imho, but I suppose that is not the usual fundamentalist interpretation of the term]? Just don't expect them to do very well later on (or excel, depending on where it happens... southern states, "yay")
