I thought Apple would update iOS 11 to show enhanced battery information in early Jan. Any idea when the new update is expected?

Apple needs to be careful what they put into the "enhanced" section. Too many people are crying about an issue that really isn't an issue. I fully expect them to wait till end of Q1 to release anything like this. Because once it's released people are going to complain even more about battery life vs slow downs. When in reality most don't have a clue how programming and battery power really works in these types of devices. So I'm sure Apple will have their store staff overly flooded with average joe complaints about how their device now feels slow and my battery dies to quickly. Annoying! Guess people want their handheld for every little thing that comes out.

Actually they said “Early in 2018, we will issue an iOS software update with new features that give users more visibility into the health of their iPhone’s battery, so they can see for themselves if its condition is affecting performance”.

updated and Edited to directly quote Apple from their support page.
