Read this very interesting article on The Sun today,

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/fun/gizmo/article1045452.ece

I know it is mostly about the iPod but surely this means potential for the iPhones future. I wonder how long this will take to filter down to us consumers though

The bottom of the article seems to confirm the iPhone price drop due in the UK today. Kind of messes up anyone wishing to sell their 8gb iPhone to buy the 3g version

If it's called "nanotechnology," does that mean it's just for the iPod Nano?

    (Did anybody seriously buy that?)

    Nope, they didnt :D

Yeah, this will happen eventually but not soon, though. New technology takes time to test and develop before it can be made avalable to the public, also it will be very expensive at first so it may not even be in iPods until a few years after it is released for tech comapnies to use.

Few points you should probably take into consideration about this article:

    1) It's The Sun
    2) This won't happen for years
    3) It will be bloody expensive
    4) It's The Sun

    You guys are missing something.

By the time this technology is released, songs will be higher in MB/song (OR maybe even be GB/song), way better quality, meaning the same amount of songs on iPods/MP3 players in the future.
