Entourage and Mail used at same time?

Am I able to use Entourage and mail at the same time with a Gmail account. I do know that entourage does not download the messages because I am able to view them online. What I am trying to do is see what program I like better without disrupting the other program to ensure I am getting full usage of both programs.

Actually you can. You just have to add your gmail account to both programs. Using the gmail account as a POP e-mail address does not disrupt the other app or the online account.

i would recommend going to imap if you were to do this.

I would turn IMAP on or off, because I want a message to download to both entourage and Mail, and currently when one downloads the message, the other does not

it should still download, but show up as already read?

Is one program, lets say Entourage going to be pop and then mail going to be IMAP or both going to be POP or both IMAP?
