iPod Erasing iPod shuffle?

Hi, my 1G shuffle's acting up, the Reset Utility does nothing, so I was wondering if erasing it from MS-DOS, then formatting to Mac OS Ext. (Journaled) would do any harm?

Nope, it should be fine. The things I've done with my shuffle are far worse then that and it still works after a restore. But perhapse there is a physical problem? I love 1g shuffles. Mine has portable camino, my resume, my routers password and is soo handy.
