    The Problem:

I was given a Bondi iMac. I want to connect it to my network. So what's the problem?

I plug in a crossover cable into my Airport base station (before you say anything, the airport can use crossover or standard) and in Panther's networking panel the IP6 address works, but DHCP doesn't work.

However, if I manually enter IP information, purposely using the same IP as my G5, the G5 reports straight away that there is an IP conflict with MAC address: blah blah blah (the iMac).

So basically, the iMac is sending data to the Airport Base (or another hub if i test with just a basic switch) but it can't seem to access much more complex data, like getting an IP via DHCP. So forget File Sharing, Internet browsing, etc.

There is a problem somewhere, I just don't know what it is.

BTW, NVRAM and PRAM have been reset, all firmwares on iMac are latest, running 10.3.4 and 9.2.2 - the ethernet problem is the same under both. Pinging also doesn't work.

    Thanks in advance! Please help!
