The story of how he ended up looking in his neighbors window sounds like bull ****. But good on him for helping.

Nice... he managed to get three rounds off, hitting all three intruders (killed two of them) before they could grasp what was happening.
His skills are definitely still sharp.
    Give the man a medal.

as a sniper he might be suffering from PTSD so I can't say it's bull.

It's Texas... no court would accept a suit as it was clearly a clean shoot.

Yep, it's great that he was able to help, but it sounds like he was trying to be a peeping tom and just happened to see something going on.

It's fortunate that he had military training and wasn't just some trigger happy redneck who would have stood as good a chance of hitting the people he was trying to protect as hitting the criminals.

Regardless of his motives for looking into the window, he saved the family from what could have been certain death for some, if not all of them.

Nope. In CA he would be exactly the same, a fake person in a fake story.

Sorry, but theseattletribune.com is one of those fake news websites that writes appealing stories designed to get shares and likes from a particular group, gun-nuts in this instance.

Just as a general rule, regardless of whether you're a republican or democrat or lizardperson. If an online news story checks off every box you're hoping to read, it's probably fake.

This had everything to give a 2A-nut a giant boner:
    - Home invasion
    - White middle-class neighborhood
    - Atomic family
    - Army veteran
    - Sniper rifle
    - Bad guys wearing masks
    - "business deal" gone wrong
    - 911 call while monitoring the situation
    - Instincts kicking in
    - Happy ending (both for the family and the reader)

I don't blame you... this time.

If it was an online story about hard-working immigrant getting super high on legal weed and finding 100,000 uncounted ballots voting for Hillary in Michigan and Pennsylvania, right next to proof that global warming is real, I might have posted it.

Up here stuff like that sometimes gets written up as a hunting accident, or so the myth went back in the day.

It's possible that has changed somewhat since they paved the roads and the population's grown a little, but I doubt it. Maybe now they also throw in a few conservation or watershed violations. Things *are* different in the boondocks. It's not that we're unfriendly but really you're not expected to step up on someone's porch without being invited, so to come onto a property after dark as an intruder is more or less suicidal.

On the other hand hunting violations, like taking deer with lights at night or from the road, get taken seriously around here. The law will throw the whole book to make the point. In the season this year a couple guys were nailed for taking 2 does all wrong one night and between the two of them got 21 citations and a total of around $12k in fines or three years in the slam. A fancy price for venison. They would have done better driving into a town and shoplifting some steaks.
