Sorry if this has been asked before but I have found that my ex husband's email contacts are merged with mine on my iphone on my icloud account. I have a new Mac and I set it up with the new icloud account but I have discovered my ex husbands email contacts are merged with mine on that also. Please can anyone tell me how this has happened? Thank you

If they were still stored on any of your devices. They likely updated to iCloud one they were synced with that account.

Thank you for replying. Could the contacts be synced even when they are are separate icloud accounts that have never been linked.......to my knowledge!

However, if your device was linked to his account, his contacts transfered over to your device and by extension you account. My only suggestion would be to manually delete unwanted contacts or delete everything and start from scratch.

There should have been no link to his account. I definitely have not linked to his account and as I said, his contacts have appeared on a new account that I set up after we parted. We have been apart for five years but recently other unexplained things have occurred so when this happened, I began to suspect that he had linked to my icloud account. Apple were unable to explain it. I understand that I can delete his contacts but I will be left wondering if my account has been linked to his and that he therefore has access to my information and indeed my network which I also suspect.

Delete the unwanted contacts and then backup your devices. If this is a brand new iCloud account that is not associated in any way with your ex-husband, that should rectify the situation. If you are still concerned that he might have access, changes your Apple password to something only you would ever know or think of, and make sure two-factor authentication has been turned on on your account.

Login to https://appleid.apple.com/ and check the Devices and Contactable On sections to make sure there are no unexpected devices or emails displayed. Also make sure 2-factor identification is on.

Here is what might have happened. Please note *MIGHT*:

- Your ex-husband put in his iCloud account in order to have access to your iPhone through Find my iPhone.
- He didn't properly setup the account and his contacts were uploaded into your iPhone
- Your account was already in your iPhone wil contacts enabled.
- Your iPhone received the new contacts from your ex-husband's iCloud and it then proceeded to sync these new contacts into your iCloud.
- You setup your iPhone, and deleted your ex-husbands iCloud; hwoever, the contacts had already been transfered over to your account.

Now, to remedy this, like stated earlier, manually delete those unwanted contacts and change your iCloud password.
