I have found that using a pwnage'd orig iPhone 2.0 (not 3G), Exchange push mail is not coming over when the phone screen is off (although the phone power is on). When I hit the home button, things wake up and a wifi connection is created and then the mail starts pushing over.

Is there a way to keep push via wifi active while the phone screen is off?
Or is fetching the only way to make this work? Does the phone maybe default to EDGE when the screen is off? Is there a way to turn off edge and phone only but keep wifi active?

PS - I have no phone service and am not using the iPhone as a phone. BUT with an iPod touch, even with the screen off, push emails beep the device.
