    Hey Guys,

Just thought I'de make up a post on your favorite band... So here goes... "What is your favorite band" and "your favorite CD from that band" and "the bands website"

    Ok so here goes,,

My favorite band would have to be Puddle of Mudd, I just love their style and the lyrics they are amazing... Now my favorite Cd from the band would have to be LIFE ON DISPLAY it's the newest album it came out in november so it's at stores now to pick up and check out, it rocks... Now the bands website is www.puddleofmudd.com it has got to be one of the best official websites for a band out their... b/c they always update it very often and there are many clips and stuff to check out... Now what do you guys think of them? Any other POM fans here?

My fav 'rock' band remains R.E.M. for a record 14th year in a row... ;) :D they only released a 'Best Of' and I don't necessarily think it contained their best of, but the case remains, and 'Animal' is a beaut! ;)

Zwan's album 'Mary Star Of The Sea' is right up there, and it's a shame Corgan spilt them up.... and 'Yeah's!' bassline exercises my iSub in all the right ways ;)

'The Fiery Furnaces' also showed the way to 'The White Stripes' with 'Gallowsbird's Bark' and what can be done with a real bro+sis combo and a proper drummer!

'Yeah Yeah Yeahs' love them, particularly 'Maps', Karen O' has zero vocal control, but man do the rock.

Pete Yorn, The Cardigans and The Dandy Warhols all released fantastic albums too.

Biggest disapointment?? well 'The Strokes' are up there after their amazing first album, it was a shame to find out they were a one trick pony. :(

And I failed to see the appeal in the Darkness and the hype that surrounded them and their music...

I'm a bit confused as to what this thread is asking for. Is it asking for your favorite rock band that released something in 2003, or your favorite rock band ever, as of 2003?

My answer to the first would be Shiina Ringo. Sure, she's not really a group, but she's putting out the best rock music of anyone right now. The album she released this year, "Karuki Zamen Kuri No Hana" ("Chlorine, Semen, and Chestnut Flower") gets quite experimental, moves far beyond standard rock music, and becomes this beautiful pop music masterpiece. Official site: http://www.toshiba-emi.co.jp/ringo/ringonouta/flash/index_j.htm

My answer to the second would most likely still be New Order and Joy Division. While they made heavy use of synthesizers, and that might disqualify them from being considered a "rock" band, I've listened to my NO/JD albums far more than any of my others. From "Unknown Pleasures" to "Technque", every album released is a masterpiece. "Republic" and "Get Ready" aren't bad either, but they don't quite reach the greatness of the previosu records. Not an official site, but the best out there: http://www.neworderonline.com

    2003 Bands [Rock]

    Favorite new band of 2003:

    Mr. Trout

    Album on iTMS

    Mr. Trout's Album Page

These guys are a local band here that just got their album on iTMS. I love their lyrics, and if you ever see a show, you will see why they appeal to geeks, rock fans and the ladies.

    Favorite standby of 2003:

    U2's Home Page

U2 is a perennial favorite of mine. Hey, I even loved their POP album!

    Runner Up 2003:

    The Strokes

    Their newest album...

Well, these guys have been around for a while, but I really got into their music about a year ago. I love their rock vibe.

    favourite group...

I gotta say that System of a Down were my favourite group of 2003. I mean, who releases a cd with no cover, just writing on a normal CDR that says 'steal this album' Nice one! Oh and the music was awesome as well...

Srapping Young Lad go here to listen to Devour. I haven't felt this good about a band since Master of Puppets.

If you like the Singer's voice try Devin Townsend / Devin Townsend Band

If all that's too loud, try Aimee Mann I think her "Lost in Space" was 2002 but I listened to it all last year, It's not heavy, but it is rock.

If he had released anything new in 2003 (not including a hits collection), I would say Peter Gabriel.

My favorites from 2003 were from Dave Matthews Band & Dave's solo CD.

My other favorite was the final release from Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros (RIP).
