Comey should be fired immediately. His actions, and the timing of them, are the worst example yet of the law enforcement mentality that poisons this country.

Let's be very clear about this: Comey has not reviewed the e-mails in question. He has - literally - no idea as to whether they show the slightest hint of evidence of wrongdoing or criminal behavior on anybody's part.

Moreover, he chose to release this information in such a manner that can only throw confusion and doubt into the minds of voters. There is no way that an appropriate investigation can be concluded in an appropriate time frame.

Quoting a former Assistant US Attorney:

    Fire Comey ASAP.

There is an existing thread for this and this concern has already been addressed inside. Let's be clear here, a day ago the left was applauding Comey's mishandling of this case, today they are calling for his resignation. Comey would not have issued this statement unless something came up in relation to Hillary and the storage of classified data outside of its proper channels.

Comey hasn't reviewed the emails personally, his staff sure as hell have started or they wouldn't have alerted him.

Comey is an idiot but will be funny to see his career end after the 10th. He might be liable for prosecution himself for trying to use the FBI to influence an election on behalf of Trump.

You guys are hilarious, he lets Hillary off the hook completely, losing all respect from within the FBI, and Hillary tries to hang herself again and you guys blame Comey. I suspect Huma thought she had a slick deal with Comey and wasn't expecting her device to be raided due to an unrelated investigation that no one knew about. Hillary doesn't really want them to release the details.

Do you not understand how badly Comey has screwed up?

The FBI is supposed to be a law enforcement agency. Just like the police department in a town or city. That means it investigates crimes, apprehends suspects, and turns evidence over to prosecutors. Evidence. Not random factoids that may, or may not, be of any relevance to significance to anything.

If a police department is investigating a crime, it's not its job to release daily status reports of every random phone-tip and scrap of paper that comes into its possession. Such evidence needs to be properly evaluated before being placed before a jury. For reasons that I think should be obvious.

Comey should be told that he will be removed from duties immediately after the election, and placed under investigation for professional misconduct.

He legally had to write the letter in order to amend previous congressional testimony.

He was required to inform congress that his prior statement that the case was closed on Hillary was false.

On your last paragraph, this will happen when Trump takes office either way. Bernie could have taken this election in a snap.

Former US Department of Justice spokesman Matt Miller:

Remember those words: "We don't comment on on-going investigations"? You've heard them a thousand times before, because that's the way professional law enforcement does things.

Comey needs to be fired, and held to account over this, as soon as possible.

This is what Comey wrote in a letter to FBI employees about this matter:

Congratulations, Director Comey. You've failed utterly on both counts. You probably would win some sort of award for literally the worst legal advice ever given.

Because you've obviously created a misleading impression. You knew the risks of that happening, but you went ahead and did it anyway. You don't know something. You don't actually know that there is any criminal wrongdoing. You don't know that there is any actual evidence of anything.

    The timing is particularly interesting.

A democrat appointee, working for a democrat attorney general under a democrat White House releases this statement 11 days before the election which is supposed the hand picked democrat successor into office.

You think he knows something about future job security?

    I find it particularly curious.

This is a classic example of "they are right when they are agreeing with me and wrong when they are disagreeing with me". I'd just consider VRDrew's opinion in the matter irrelevant.

That was a good find though. Made me lol.

Read post number 202 from the above link. VRDREW says "I think we have to respect Comey's statement on this.". New evidence comes out and. Ow you want him "fired ASAP" Evans's it could threaten your chosen candidate. Where's your integrity?

vrDrew, you thought Comey was impartial before? He went out of his way to make HRC sound as guilty as possible while simultaneously claiming there was nothing for the FBI to have the AG charge her with. If the endless fruitless investigations into HRC along with the postponements of Trump's court proceedings are any clue: Law enforcement in the US is in it for Trump, and they aren't afraid to break the law to shoot black people or to elect a fascist buffoon as US prez. They probably see a fascist buffoon and think "wow even I could be president!"

Maybe volunteering hoping for a low level position.
If he did it for job security that's funny. President Trump is going to drain that swamp, and Comey is just one of the top predators in that swamp.

It's (IMHO) too early to tell who is going to win despite it all, but it does start to look as if Bernie might have had fewer issues for the GOP to contend with.

Still, has Trump brought up the issue? Bernie was the one who seemed to be passionate about not hearing about the "damn emails":

Bernie got shafted plain and simple. I despise just about every idea he has, but can feel sympathy for him. He believes what he says and got cheated out of a chance.
