Remember the time the Bush administration shut down the White House email archive system because it moved to a new email server? Or that almost all of Bush's chief advisors emails sat on a private email system set up by the RNC? CROOKED, CORRUPT, REPUBLICANS at work.

Remember when Mitt Romney cleaned up after himself and was criticized for it? I'm wondering if people know what they are asking for. Time was when there was a definition of a business or government official record that required archival. Do we really want every communication between every single one of us to be archived until Planet Earth dies? We could almost do it now.

I agree, we sure don't. I recall this story, but not this quote, from that thing called the newspapers:

    Some civility in ancient times.

The FBI is more useful as an institution if it can be perceived as nonpolitical agency. A certain fraction of the FBI still believes in this principle. A certain portion may well be cowed by the Hatch Act. It's the politically outspoken portion that's especially dangerous.

Spencer Ackerman believes a sizable portion of the FBI is still professional.
