FCE4 HDV rendering time comparison?

Quick question. I teach video production to a local high school/community college. The lab is currently set up with FCE 3.5.1 and after moving to HDV cameras this year, rendering times have gone WAY up (have to render for almost anything they do). Can someone with the new FCE4 confirm or deny that it is better suited at editing HDV. For the record, the machines are all newer MacTowers.
