For years I have been waiting for a “download all” music button to be implemented into Apples iOS.

As it stands, you have to create a smart playlist on iTunes on a computer, filter media kind as “Music”

Then go back into your iOS device, and download that whole playlist.

Now you have an unnecessary playlist there, just so you can download all your songs in one go.

Apple is “all about the experience”

How about a simple “Download All” button???

If you have a Mac, in the music app create a smart playlist where time is greater than 0 seconds. That should select all your music. Save that playlist.

On your iOS device, open that playlist and download it. This is how I get around this limitation in iOS.

This works assuming you are syncing your music across devices.

I agree there should be a button to download all music without having to create a playlist

That is what I describe in my OP.

It's really not an ideal, nor an elegant solution.

What if you the user doesn't have access to a computer etc

Download All button really shouldn't be that hard to implement :D

Yep, you are right...I missed that in the original post. You are right, if you don't have a computer, you are really out of luck. Strange that such a simple feature doesn't exist.

Seems like an odd and basic feature to miss.

Almost too odd.. like they don't want to implement it for some reason?

Does Apple pay higher royalties if the song is DOWNLOADED as opposed to streamed?

There is a toggle to automatically download songs in settings. I think it only applies to newly added songs but it also somehow caused my whole library to download a few years ago when I switched phones.

Yea I haven't tried turning it on prior to signing into iCloud/Apple Music, but as it states, any new music you add...

So if I was to turn it on now, it wouldn't download my synced library - just new songs added from now.
Which leaves you downloading all your songs one by one anyway :(

A simple Download All button is needed :D

Took a flight recently and discovered that not a lot of songs were auto downloaded. Now I’m making my return flight and was hoping to grab everything at once with a simple click. I have the 1TB model, so I wish the phone would just cache everything including Maps for offline/limited cellular situations.

Meanwhile on Spotify I can download a 500+ song playlist within minutes and a few clicks.

Yep. This exactly.

How utterly annoying.

Not that hard to implement one button :/
