    In all the gory detail...
And that Chamber of Commerce number... wow! I know they exaggerate their membership numbers heavily, and they have some accounting tricks to make their lobbying dollars appear larger, but damn! Talk about blowing away your competition...

Think of the people that were denied care so that this money could be paid out. :(

Add to that the latest supreme court ruling on campaign finance and see what you come up with.

The Corporation has become the government.

But this has been coming for a long, long time. It is not the current administrations fault only so don't go blaming Obama for it.

Blame the last 10 presidents and congress.

I'd also note that, despite conservatives screaming bloody murder about how the trial lawyers and the labor unions run this country, those two sectors come in much lower than business-friendly sectors. In fact, even the defense sector in 10th place boasts more spending on lobbying efforts than both labor and lawyers groups spend combined. From there it just gets ridiculous how badly outclassed those two sectors are.

Careful not to fall in while you are leaping over that gap.

Such a waste of resources when we could use it for something better.

Ah, but money doesn't give a crap about those people. And nor do the corporations who control the "speech" that money provides.

The ones he described. The ones that can't find a job due to these companies exporting jobs. The ones faced with foreclosure due to bad economy. The ones who can't get that constant cough checked because the ER is too expensive or can't afford the meds.

    The lit can go on....

    very true

I don't believe in the lobbying system at all that we currently have, also it depends on what type of corporate welfare you refer to. I am all for tax break incentives for corporations going the direction that is good for the country as a whole, not for their bottom line though. The government's place in the game is to set the rules and the board to play on, the corporations shouldn't be allowed to change the rules in their favor using money.
