So, are mens' noses, in fact, larger? Is there anything inaccurate about calling the tissues 'extra large'? No harm to the renaming, no foul.

I just think it's pathetic people were actually upset about it in the first place

It's highly unlikely that they are changing the name just because some people complained. They are changing the name because their marketing research indicates that "extra large" tissues will sell better than "mansize" tissues. And I'm also reasonably sure that all of the free publicity they are getting for this change was a big factor in that research and decision. Complaining about it is just playing into their hands.

It's all rather silly, from any perspective. I can't see why anyone would get butthurt over naming them that, but that's the world we live in today. Someone's got to be offended. What will they have to change next?

I did. It's incredibly naive to believe that they are doing this without doing marketing research and that they would still go ahead with the change if that research showed it hurting sales. It's like Nike hiring Colin Kaepernick. They are doing the "right thing" because they believe it will benefit their bottom line.

They're giving in to mob rule - easier to just capitulate than to argue with people who only want to exist in an echo chamber, and who will never accept while they might not be 'wrong' what they want shouldn't be foisted upon society as a whole. At the end of the day I doubt people like myself are going to care enough to stop buying them, so no sales lost and they've appeased the unshaven-armpit brigade. Just all seems really pathetic to me!

There is no campaign. This is all marketing.

    And that’s the top hit.

Mob rule comes into play in this "story"? Please, do elaborate. :)

The headline on the report from The Hill sums it up pretty succinctly.

"Kleenex Mansize, which has been on shelves since 1956, is sold only in the U.K. and is reportedly the country’s most popular tissue brand -- but complaints of sexism have ushered in a name change."

It just points up how soft people have become. PC really should be eradicated. It's doing us no good.

If actual people don’t care and their marketing department doesn’t think it’s a good idea then what’s the issue?

Someone apparently was. It was on the shelves for well over 1/2 a century and no-one complained.

Nobody, it's the professionally offended and extremist feminists getting their noses out of joint over nothing.

Why would they go to the effort and expense of a re-brand if not to appease a certain type of person?

Really? I don't see any UK feminists starting a thread on a consumer product name change.

Here, read this. It isn't being changed for marketing reasons. It's being changed to placate a vocal minority.

There’s no evidence of a vocal minority wanting this changed. If there was the change.org petition would have 70000 signatures not 7.

    So they can sell more.

You guys want free markets, but complain when the market shifts? Come on.

Nah, that could end in achieving something.

You are the one whining on an obscure forum bout things that matter exactly 0.
