So I've been using Chromecast for some time, and I absolutely love it, especially the apps that allows you to stream any video from my phone to the TV in the background. So...

    1. Can I do "airplay" from any video in the Videos app?
    2. If yes, can I do so in the background? I.e. streaming from Videos whilst say, browsing on Safari or playing a game on the phone?
    3. Does it heat up the phone using these features? My old Sony Z2 got blazing hot when I used screen mirroring, but stayed cool when I just played contents through the streaming app.
    4. Does it work similarly to chromecast when streaming NetFlix and similar apps?
    5. Can it be used to play audio through speakers?

    Thanks! ^^

There will be an app for Netflix on the apple tv, so you will not need to use your phone to stream netflix on the apple tv. Just open the app.

1- as long as those apps support AirPlay
2-AirPlay does not work in the background
3-No it does not heat up the phone. At least I have never noticed that.
4- Apple TV has native apps that you can stream directly from without the need to AirPlay from a phone.
5-yes you can AirPlay audio. But the app must support AirPlay

Yes airplay works in the background , it is up to the App developer to make it that way

Wasn't sure how if Chromcast had an airplay like piece of software. If the OP is going to via netflix, I agree use the app.....

Correct. NHL Gamecenter works in the background. As of typing this I am streaming a game to my tv and browsing macrumors/reddit. My phone (6+) is slightly warmer as a result, but not crazy hot, just slightly warmer...

Some apps work in background and others don't. Mlb at bat does but fox sports go does not. Apple stated when 1st gen chromecast was out that airplay had same features as chromecast if developers use it.

It should be stated that most iOS apps fan AirPlay in the background but that does not mean they work the same as a chromecast. With a chromecast you can put music or video on the tv and if you watch a video or turn on music on your phone the stream on the tv doesn't cut out. This is not true with AirPlay. If you are air playing a tv show and you open a YouTube video on your phone the tv show will stop playing.
