Hey there. I really adore my iPad mini. Like, a lot. It’s such a great device, and I can’t get enough of it. I’ve been a little frustrated with some tablet sizes before, and ultimately stop using them to their fullest potential as they are too cumbersome. I haven’t felt that with the mini, especially as I type with two thumbs on it. This is the perfect size tablet for in bed use, couch laying, and just casually taking a mental break from school...

I use the iPad primarily for note taking, and that is achievable on here. I use notability every single day. I do own a 12.9 third gen pro, and it’s great, but it literally stays on my desk.
If you are curious, this is my setup.

The pencil with magnetic sleeve works incredibly well. I actually couldn’t imagine not having it now. It locks onto the Smart Cover incredibly well...as for the iPad, not as well. It works, but it’s not strong unlike the Smart Cover.

Despite that flaw, I really recommend this magnetic sleeve for the pencil if you own one and a Smart Cover!

PS, this Space Gray and Papaya Smart Cover is great. :)

I really love your wallpaper. Very nice. I wish the iPad pros has different folio covers. Is that folio just like the apple smart folio for the 3rd gen iPad Pro? It just sticks to it?

Thanks. I am a huge fan of Dark Souls. It’s the Papaya Smart Cover, it only sticks to the front of the device.

I just ordered the papaya Smart Cover, along with a new midnight blue Apple silicone case. That will allow me to swap with my current Apple space gray case and Smart Cover.
Are you ordering a mini 4 case? How is the fit on the mini 5?

I’m hoping I can find a back case that is compatible with the mini 5 smart cover before I purchase the cover. Contemplating getting a skin for the back if a case doesn’t come out in a month. In the mean time I’m using a smart folio case from amazon.

My choice:

From their shopping cart:

"I'm sorry, Human. I'm afraid there's nothing here.

It appears that your shopping cart is empty. We're eagerly awaiting your money. Remember: the more you spend, the quicker we all get to buy Lamborghinis."

I went with the white/silver iPad Mini 5, as I do for every iOS product if possible. I got a turquoise Smart Cover which looks really snappy with the white/silver model. It’s technically an iPad Mini 4 cover, but they were going for super cheap on eBay, and it works just fine with the Mini 5. I also had to get a Pencil along with it, since it’s the first iPad I’ve got that supports it. I’m not wild about the design of the Pencil 1, though, especially compared to the 2nd generation one. The roundness and glossy finish are much less appealing than the flat edge and matte finish on the 2nd gen one. I’m considering getting an aluminum grip for it because I just prefer the feel of aluminum pens and styluses.

Yeah, the two-thumb typing is part of why I fell in love with the Mini and consider it the most versatile iPad. I had owned some larger ones before, but once the Mini hit that was when iPads finally “clicked” with me. At the time I was doing hours of train commuting daily, and I was able to get so much done on the Mini even standing up on the train that it’s hard to go back to anything else.

Sure, the new 3rd gen Pros look incredibly cool, but I just know there’s no way I’d truly use them as a tablet. If I had a 11” or 12.9” iPad I likewise would presume it would stay on my desk at most times, and in most cases I’d probably prefer using a full computer with a trackpad or mouse. And if I’m using a laptop-sized machine, I’d probably prefer using using a desktop OS instead. The Mini hits that sweet spot for iOS products in that there’s a lot of productivity that can be done with it, but it’s not asking to replace my computer, nor does its price approach that of a MacBook.

Amen to that, brother.
