Final Cut Studio on the go

So im beginner to Final Cut Coming from Sony Vegas on windows. Ok So heres my setup: I have a 27 inch i7 imac and a 13 inch 2.4 mbp. Now i do all my of my editing on i7 imac but for times when im free at school or at a location with my mbp I would like to edit the project im working on my imac. So is there a way to make my final cut project "portable" so i can edit on the go via external HDD. I know i couldve ask this clearer but im a bad writer lol ill stick to video editing
