I’ve found some compatible tags that work with Find My on AE that are very cheap, and wonder how these work.

Someone posted about them and said they do indeed work with Find My, but I thought they had to be licensed by Apple specifically, and can’t imagine these have?

Has anyone got any like these type and work ok? They are £3 each, and would just use for extra items that I probably wouldn’t spend £25 on an AirTag but would at this price, and get for rest of family to?

I have a few, from various third parties.

Eufy
Pebblebee
Orbit x Glasses
MICFLIP
SevenSwan (easy to remove speaker)
and
Onn (the only one that failed me)

They're fine (minus the Onn). They just all lack precision finding. Find the form factor that works for you.

Didn’t realise so many had Find My available, on so many different tags.

Precision is good, but for the cost and other functions, maybe worth a try

The least expensive "other item" options on Am-zon are about $5. They are often VERY slow to update. Even with known-authentic Duracell battery inside many burn through capacity in six months or so. The worst design so far of the 9 I have tried is shaped like an overweight guitar pick as the battery harness is rigged with pressure.

I have a eufy in my glovebox as a findmy other item. It's only been a few weeks so I have not enough experience to compare.

Simply search for: FindMy, and enable the Prime tickbox in the left search panel.

Having written a vast sea of reviews I caution you to actively-disbelieve most every review. Especially discount Vine as they are harassed by Community Team into a certain "style" and every review containing the word "nice". Set the review filter after clicking "all reviews" to only show those containing media.

I've got plenty of AirTags but thought I'd dive in and buy some cheapo ones from AliExpress to see what the fuss was all about. £1.83 each, can't go wrong with that.

Son went on holiday, so stuck an AirTag in his suitcase and the cheap tag in his rucksack.

Monitored his trip to Gatwick and then onto Tenerife.

What I wasn't prepared for was that the cheap tag was updating waaaaay faster than the AirTag. The Airtag would show itself at a different location sometimes up to an hour out of sync. The cheap tag was always showing the accurate location, up till leaving Gatwick.

On arrival in Tenerife the cheap tag came online again but the AirTag was still slow at showing its location. It still showed as in Gatwick.

Both devices didn't update on their taxi journey to the hotel, (well actually the cheap tag updated once) so I'm guessing as he didn't have data roaming turned on they couldn't update.

Once at the hotel the cheap tag updated and the AirTag was once again slow at updating.

Not sure if this was just a 'one off' for the AirTag as they usually all perform really well. But in summary, the cheap tags are fantastic value for money.
