Finder constantly restarts!

I lent my 12" to a friend to do some work in iMovie and he gives it back to me all f***ked up. Finder constantly restarts, it will load the desktop files, they'll flash and then it will close. It does this for a certain amount of time and then pretty much gives up.

I repaired permissions and still nothing. No idea on this one and I'm about to kill my friend.

Please tell me I'm not looking at a total restore!

I feel for you man. This happened to my friend's computer after I upgraded it to Jag. Ended up having to do a restore. Do you have your OS X on a separate partition?

If you have the OS X install discs, just try installing on top of your system, that may replace any corrupt files and it won't kill any of your settings or saved work.
