I'm downloading the 1.1.1 firmware and it says the file size is 150.6MB, but its now at 162.3MB and still downloading??? It's taken over 24 hours to download (because of dialup), and would like to know what the actual file size is so I know when it will be done.

what is dial up?

Hmm... I ended up closing itunes and stopping the download. But, when I reopen it asks to download the update again. It acts like nothing was downloaded before. So, I guess I'll try it again and wait another 24 hours or so to see if it downloads correctly. It says the file is 150.6MB.

Why didn't it install it once it finished the 150MB the first time?

This is ridiculous...

Are you not in a position to go someplace where there is faster internet, and write a CD or something? When will high speed come to wherever you are?

Sorry that you have to do without it. Certainly, the world has whizzed past dial-up, just as it has past the horse and buggy, the transistor radio, typesetting houses, the phonograph, etc.

Is there nothing you can do to join the 21st century?

Keep in mind, not everyone can afford anything other then dialup.

But....we do plan on getting satellite internet middle of next month. Very good news. We were waiting to get faster internet till we could get rid of our phone line altogether. Our town only has Netspeed which you still need a phone line for. But, we have decided to do satellite since its more economical now.

but I was really hoping to get this installed now. I guess I'll see how this second download goes.

Second time I downloaded it went past 150MB again. Why isn't it stopping? and installing to my touch? It still says there's an update 1.1.1 when I connect my touch.

I'm hoping after we get satellite internet it may work correctly?

Why not try this approach:

Quote 'What I would reccomend if it fails again is downloading it manually from http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite....a_Restore.ipsw (assuming that is the latest one, it's the one listed on the touch dev wiki) and then doing a restore from that file, by holding down alt on a mac, or shift on a pc, when you click restore, and then selecting the file.'

It works OK.
