Relief from tough fuel economy rules? Do people not realize that fossil fuels are not limitless and are a source of pollution? If we can go farther on the same amount of fuel, then we should do so. We should save fuel for things that are impractical to use other sources of energy right now. Things like jets and rockets for example.

It seems very foolhardy to waste a finale fuel source just because of greed.

Beside the fact that buyers WANT fuel economy, that's something many people specifically look for when car shopping. Why would you intentionally make cars LESS fuel efficient?

    GM and Chrysler?

Aren't those the automakers that Republicans have spent the last eight years saying we should have let go out of business? And that Barack Obama was "the worst President in history" for actually doing something to save the ~ 1.8 million jobs that would have cost.

Seriously confused by their idiotic lying hypocrisy.

As soon as Obama raises money to counteract the massive debt he accumulated we can throw a congrats party for him.

If they want fuel economy there won't be a problem. Market demand will drive it if your theory is correct.

Unfortunately for FCA Dodge/Ram Pickups and the larger Jeep SUV's (Grand Cherokee and Wrangler Unlimited) are basically the few cars holding them afloat. They really don't have a strong offering in the fuel efficient segment. They have the Fiat 500 electric which is considered an awful car. FCA's other small sedans are nothing spectacular in terms of fuel economy or any other factor.

I don't see FCA having a very successful future for many reasons. Inability to develop fuel efficient technology being an important factor.

Not me. I want a big thirsty V-8. Tired of the lawnmower motor in my car. Milage no better than the previous car with the V-8. All the weird safety stuff, RFT, AWD and annoying gismology adds weight.

In a regular, free economy, I would agree with you. In the mess we have right now where half of the economy is actually held up by the government going by the rule book when things are bad doesn't make much sense.
I hear what you're saying, I simply don't think that it was the right moment to go full Adam Smith when the market they work in is so regulated by the government that it's not even funny.

Even taking the environment out of the equation I still wouldn't want that because that means more trips to the gas station and I hate making trips to the gas station. It just annoys the hell out of me. Not to mention the added expense of fuel!

Want less trip to the gas station? 40 gallon tanks. Can't help you with the expense. I literally have LOL MPG on my fuel door.

Even that's not helpful as huge tanks take a longer time to fill up making me hate it even more. Which is why I could never go with a pure plug in electric either as things stand now. 30-40 minutes before I have enough to go anywhere? Oh hell no.

Ha. This made me giggle, kinda like when my two year old does something silly, but she didn't know any better.

So you think, because republicans may have disagreed with that decision, that it should stop them from bringing jobs back to America?

    It's like...

Democrat: Don't put that rapist/murdering pedophile to death! The death penalty is bad!!!!

    Republican: Disagree...

Democrat: Well we are going to vote to abolish the death penalty!

News: California abolished the death penalty. Meanwhile, Mr. Illogical will serve a life sentence behinds bars, but sources say he is not being fed, clothed, or allowed to use the restroom.

Republican: SINCE we have to keep this man alive, treat him humanely.

YOU: OH REPUBLICANS WANTED TO PUT HIM TO DEATH AND NOW THEY WANT TO FEED HIM?! OHHHHHH THE HYPOCRI(S)Y!

    Hm hm hm... That's cute.
