fn+delete stopped working?

Fn+Delete no longer deletes the character to the right of the cursor. Help, please!

At first, it seemed to be related to my installation of Growl, but I deleted it entirely and it still doesn't work.

One note - it DOES work on my installation of BBEdit version 6.5.2. As I understand it, BBEdit is NOT Cocoa (or Carbon, I'm not sure), but Safari, Office 2004, and Mail - apps where it doesn't work - ARE Cocoa?

Please advise.
