For MacBooks, do y'all use a sleeve? Bag? Just carry it around naked?

When I bought my 2006 MacBook, I bought 2 Brenthaven bags; 1 larger one to put lots of accessories and stuff in and a "sleeker" one that held the MacBook and charger. I also got a sleeve free when I bought my 2010 MBP. I can't find the larger one or the sleeve but the sleeker one seems pretty bulky for my 2020 13" MBP.

I'm really thinking of buying a sleeve to carry it around. I don't normally take my MBP anywhere but I've been using it at work for meetings about once a month. If I do, any suggestions on what brand to look at?
 
using a soft case for my MBA to carry it around inside my backpack
you probably could get along without one if you have a nicely cushioned place for it inside, as my iPad has been fine fitted in my BP without any protection for years, but i'm definitely feeling better about it with that case

my MBP is basically my stationary system, so no protection for that one
 
Outside of the house, you want to put it into something to carry it around.
Preferably, with some padding and protection inside.
 
I like the Incase sleeves - I have this one for my MBA and had a previous version of the same sleeve for my old 12" MB.

If you carry a backpack, get a sleeve that opens from the short edge and put that sleeve into the padded portion where the laptop is supposed to be stored. The sleeve stays there, unless you put your backpack down one place and carry your laptop to another. If you really want to be safe, put a wool tube sock into the bottom of the backpack laptop section first. Then, when you drop your backpack to the floor after a hard day, your laptop is safer.

If a briefcase, get a sleeve that opens from the long edge.

That looks neat. Is there a spot for the charger? Or at least the USB-C to HDMI adaptor? I'm hooking up to a TV for the presentation.

I don't have a backpack but maybe that might be a good idea. I'm doing these little classes maybe once or twice a month and I'd rather not walk around with it naked. I haven't used a backpack in 15 years but one might be handy to have. I don't even know where my old one is. I might look for that to have some vintage gear. It was somewhat up to date... had a spot to put a Discman and run the headphone wire.
 
My 2c: MacBooks are precious, precious things - I recently dropped my backpack and had to reseat a video cable to get my MBP working again. My guidance: whatever you choose to carry the thing around in, make sure it's covered from all angles if it falls - in my case this means now putting in extra foam, etc.

No, it's a pretty snug (but well padded) sleeve. There's no space for any accessories.

Thanks. I'd like at least room for the HDMI adaptor and a presentation remote.

I just thought about this! I thought Apple made a leather sleeve or something for MacBook. It doesn't show up on the search on their site.
 
Backpack with dedicated compartment that keeps the laptop a couple of centimetres above the ground when you stand it up.
 
I've been using Joli sleeve. It's handmade and incredible. The reason why? because it protects the MacBook from dust and common wear and tear. Oh, don't forget to get Apple Polishing Cloth. That's a must have.

This is exactly what I do. I put a vertical sleeve in the padded section of my backpack. On Amazon, I got a good neoprene sleeve with some padding for less than $15. It is inexpensive insurance for my $1,000++ MacBook.

Naked = bad

When traveling it goes in the sleeve then my computer bag, at home in a stand clamshell. The only time it is nude is when I am using it.

bad for who or what?
It’s a computer, screen and keyboard you better take care of, but the outside? It’s aluminum after all, hard to scratch though obviously not impossible…

But good thing we are all different, offended or not :p

Never heard of the Apple Polishing Cloth until now,
Boy have I sure been missing out...
Buying one ASAP. My MacBook is all smeared up.

A hard case, and I just throw it in my briefcase (on the laptop compartment)

I just carry laptop without case inside my cushioned pocket in my backpack but I do have dBrand skin installed to keep it from getting scratched and it looks pretty nice.
