I came across this after the security update flop.

  • 1. Make a backup first!
  • 2. Disable SIP
  • 3. Boot to the recovery partition > Open Terminal > Type in csrutil disable
  • 4. Reboot
  • 5. Download Safari 13.1.2
  • 6. Safari 13.1.2 = http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...pewxts5rfjlkhtdvcy/Safari13.1.2MojaveAuto.pkg
  • 7. Download AppCleaner v3.5 – https://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/
  • 8. Download Pacifist v3.6.2 – charlessoft.com/cgi-bin/pacifist_download.cgi?type=dmg
  • 9. Install both apps
  • 10. Use AppCleaner to remove Safari 14.0 – Go to preferences and uncheck “Protect default OS X apps”. Drag safari.app over to the app then select all files. then click remove.
  • 11. Install Safari 13.1.2MojaveAuto.pkg using Pacifist.app – Drag Safari13.1.2MojaveAuto.pkg over to the app. A new window will pop up. Highlight the main pkg in the list then hit install. You will see 2 admin prompts and a prompt to overwrite files, select overwrite all.
  • 12. Reboot to recovery and re-enable SIP. Open Terminal > Type in csrutil enable
  • 13. Reboot back to macOS. You are now back to Safari 13.1.2

It would be easier to just download and run the full Mojave 10.14.6 installer to recover Safari v13 after the removal of v14.

Go to mrmacintosh.com and check the blogs. You'll find it there...

Update: His link is down. I'll look for another source and update.

yeah I went hunting and saw a bunch of links - all of them down. I guess apple either took down the links or the links expire every few days or so

Safari v13 is in the Mojave full installer. Why not just that.

Because downloading the mojave full installer + installing it takes way more time than just downgrading. Also, im avoiding the last security update as it seems to cause issues for some people (and it deprecates the ability to ignore catalina updates etc etc)

Anyways got the file and back on 13.1.2. Took a whopping one minute to do.

Do you mind sharing that file Safari13.1.2MojaveAuto.pkg? I've been searching for a while and none have a download link. Thanks in advance

I found that you can use Pacifist.

1. Drag the Install Mojave over Pacifist.

2. Go to "Contents of Core.pkg".

3. Go to "Applications"

4. Right click on Safari.app and click "Install to default location".

5. Follow the prompts when asked. Make sure to "replace" as default.

Can you get Safari 13.1.2 out of the Mojave installer? Or is it Safari 13.1?

Is there is no way to download 13.1.2 from Apple?
