Disable both the Homepods analytics AND the improved dictation in the home app settings for each Homepod. Yes, you read that correctly.

Lately I´ve been experiencing both overheating AND the Apple TV volume lag issue and after a few days of back and forth with Apple support the told me to do this... and crazily enough it worked. My Homepods are almost cold to the touch now, and there is no more volume lag when they are paired with an Apple TV.

Go figure.

Worth a shot. I noticed that for a stereo pair you need to go into each individual speaker to turn those settings off.

Yeah. Open the stereo pair settings in the home app, then go to the "speakers" tab. You´ll see both of them. Tap on each one, and disable these settings.

It took me completely off guard a week ago, because I hadn´t experienced overheating since 14.6 days, but 15.0 and 15.1 have been a disaster for me. Random popping, overheating, slow and flaky homekit performance, lower maximum volume, muddy sound. So I decided to contact Apple.

Apple Care told me that they have been investigating Homepods issues for quite a while, since there have been A LOT of reports, particularly since 15.0 went live. Most frecuent reports have been about the popping and bad homekit/siri performance.

15.2 will supposedly improve things a lot in the homepod front. We´ll see.

I have the volume lag glitch but both of these are already turned off. Come on 15.2…..hopefully.

Thanks for this. Won’t hold my breath for 15.2 but can it get any worse?

It certainly can get a lot better, an all the OG Homepod use issues are related to poor software, so they are fixable.

The only problem is that for the final version of 15.2 we will have to wait at least another month.

At least 15.2 will bring French and Spanish for personal requests to the homepods. Finally!
