I saw this in Forbes. I think this guy was just reading the same sites we do. It doesn't seem that he contacted anyone at Apple.

Cause of Great Riot of the 21st century Determined.
Scholars attribute the collapse of human civilization to the lack of a class of mobile computers called Peach (You know how accurate archeologists are.) PowerBooks. It was discovered from a layer of dirt that contained vast amounts of electronic parts that there was a riot that swept the planet sometime between 2000 and 2200. Documentation from that time period is sketchy to say the least however preserved periodicals suggest that Peach users began the riot through massive acts of vandalism of the corp headquarters based in Florida prior to its secession of the United States in 2086. Once the riots in Florida began it swept nation wide and eventually worldwide.
Peach computers were not the only ones affected. Windows users fed up with their crap experience joined in and created the worlds largest land dump of electronic parts that can now be found in the former state of Washington. World wide users sick of dealing with computer in general created a landscape of broken computers and computer accessories that littered the entire planet. Thousands of injuries and deaths are associated with these acts of rebellion due to users tossing computer systems from high-rise structures. Steve Jobs the 18th has been quoted as saying that if these facts do pan out that hes willing to blame Bill Gates the 12th for all of it. What do you expect from a company like SoftMicro?
In other news SoftMicros market shares have fallen to another record low at .002 percent of the market. Mr. Gates was unavailable for comment but spokes person for SoftMicro are quoted as saying they expect to be back on top soon.

I just graduated with a degree in Journalism last year and I know if we were to "borrow" from a source like that without citing our source we would be in MAJOR trouble.

Powerbooks coming!
I'm no reliable source but...
My brother spoke with the head apple guy at his College, and he had just returned from a "meeting" and promised that a new powerbook would "not be long" and before "mid september" so "not to worry".
Also said "No (old) Powerbooks are shipping right now"
And "New Powerbooks will be immediately available"
Make of it what you will.

I've heard the same things from people who are in the Apple chain. This week, next at the latest for the powerbooks is what I'm hearin, but then again - it's all just rumor - right??

there have been a few people claiming that they spoke to different people, saying similar things about the PowerBooks. anyway, all these small tidbits are 'interesting' and at least they help add information to the bigger picture. well... sometimes.

i'm surprised forbes would publish rumors...don't business decisions need to be made on strict fact? it's like the wall st journal - great news reporting for the suits to make decions to, but flight-of-fancy op-eds...
