Formating disk in Windows...

Hi

I'm waiting for my first Mac computer : a Powerbook.
Meanwhile I bought a Lacie D2 Extreme 250 gb external drive. I formated it in Windows XP as NTFS. Made a backup of the files to copy to the Powerbook.
Will the Powerbook recognize the NTFS Windows formated drive ?
If not, what alternatives do I have ?

u r mac will be able to read ntfs but not write to it!!

the best to have it work also on windows would be fat 32!!
